Red Carpet Recap – Who Dazzled and Who Fizzled
Everyone knows awards shows are really about who shows up the in best outfit! Here are our favourites from Sunday’s Primetime Emmys. We don’t discriminate here either, we even have favourites for the absolute horror shows as well.
Nina Dobrev – Seriously, how amazing did she look? Her red, mermaid-style dress is quite possibly the most gorgeous dress we have ever seen on any red carpet, ever.
Zooey Deschanel – She is so cute and about the only person at the Emmys who could have pulled her dress off. The bubblegum colour is great against her pale complexion and her hair just adds to the whimsy of her entire look.
Martha Plimpton – She looked classic, and certainly grown-up since her days in The Goonies. Her red, sequinned dress fit her perfectly and made her stand out in the sea of other red dresses there.
Gwyneth Paltrow – Whoa. Who tells her she looks good before she leaves the house? This outfit is an atrocity. Showing your mid-rift hasn’t been in style since 1990, and why does she insist on wearing see through fabric? There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this outfit. Her hair adds nothing at all, just laying limp and stringy – as per usual. She looks like a gypsy witch.
Alan Cumming – We get what he was trying to do, make a social comment on how men never get to wear anything but boring black suits. We get it, but it doesn’t make these hawaiian-shirt inspired pants right. It was a close call for our vote between him and Paltrow, he missed the top spot only because we think that deep down he knew how awful this outfit was, and didn’t care.
Lea Michele – Some people have put her on their best dressed list, which we don’t get. The shoulders on this dress alone are enough to get it onto the worst-dressed list. The rest of the dress just goes on and on without anything to take away from the disaster that is her shoulders.
