Box Office Results · December 11, 2011

Moviegoers were a big no-show at the party event of the weekend.

Despite the fact ‘New Year’s Eve’ lead the box office, it only pulled in $13.7M. Making this one of the worst weekend totals this year! Nice work, star-studded ensemble cast! Jonah Hill’s babysitting comedy didn’t help out much either. ‘The Sitter’ only contributed $10M to the weekend totals. In fact, the combined total of all the movies in the top 10 is only $65.6M!?

Now, the limited releases – they knew what they were doing! ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy‘ searched out $301,000 in only four theatres. That’s an average of $75,250 per screen!

So, lesson to be learned; stop making garbage and you’ll actually make some money!

  1. Wow! $300 000 is an incredible amount for only four screens! I really hope that Hollywood producers learn from this…as you said, if they only stop making garbage, they could actually make more money!!!
