12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS – DAY 12
Under the Tree Treasures · For Her
A TICKET TO SPACE (OR JUST A TRIP TO NEW MEXICO)
Space. The final frontier.
Richard Branson – the absolute coolest billionaire ever to live – is offering everyday people the chance to fly into the great unknown with his new Virgin Galactic. And for the always affordable price of $200,000 per person, we’re surprised all the seats haven’t sold out yet!
This really is the gift for the girl that has everything – including a very rich boyfriend/husband apparently. The ticket to space doesn’t just buy you a zero gravity look at our planet. Once your $20,000 deposit is paid you’ll receive a VIP pass into almost everything that goes on at Virgin Galactic. Not to mention, once it’s time to actually take your flight, you’ll get to experience some of the training that astronauts go through before their flights!
For those of you that don’t have an extra $200,000 kicking around for a flight into the great unknown, why not take your honey to the site of the most famous space ship crash in history? Roswell, New Mexico!
Visit Area 51 – if you can find it! If you plan your trip during the first week of July you’ll be lucky enough to catch the Roswell UFO Festival. And, while you’re in the neighbourhood, you can take a drive to Las Cruces, and see where they’re building Spaceport America and dream of galactic travel together.

POSIEDON UNDERSEA RESORTS
Here we are, Day 12 and if you don’t have an idea of what to get that special someone by now… you may be out of luck. But, we’re not going to give up on you and your Christmas yet! So, the most outlandish and extravagant gifts have been saved for the end.
Built 40 ft beneath the ocean’s surface, within a 5,000-acre Fijian lagoon, the Poseidon Undersea Resort is the world’s first seafloor resort. The resort offers 24 breathtaking suites as well as one 1,000 sq ft luxury apartment outfitted in the style of The Nautilus. Which is pretty awesome! Who wouldn’t want to spend the night in Jules Verne’s fictional submarine?!
Poseidon also includes six restaurants, seven bars, featuring the world’s biggest and most stylish undersea restaurant/lounge as well as a distinctive treetop bar. But, if you and your adventurous beau would like to partake in activities outside of eating and drinking, you’re in luck!
Additional things to do for those staying at the resort consist of scuba diving, exploring the underwater environment with a personal Triton Submarine or a 16-passenger luxury submersible. Time spent on land is made more exciting with a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, a theatre and, of course, a wedding chapel. Fine shopping is also available at the on-site retail boutiques, sports centre or dive shops.
The resort is currently taking reservations but is not open as of yet. Earlier this year, a special group of the world’s elite adventure travelers and oceanic enthusiasts were invited to stay at the hotel for a week-long visit. We assume they are the Dr. Grants and Ian Malcolms of the “elite vacationing” world. I suppose we will have to wait and see if they’ve decided to endorse the park.
Reservations at the resort will initially cost $30,000 per couple, per week. Price includes four nights in a luxury beach or over-water villa and two nights in the underwater suite.
