Well, tonight gives us half an hour of relief from the constant reality t.v. viewing. Of course, it comes in the form of a cheesey, family-friendy sitcom…so you know, what is worse really?
If you’re looking for something to watch at 8 PM tonight, you’ve got two choices:
On ABC Family, the second season of ‘Melissa and Joey’ premieres tonight. Someone, somewhere thought it would be an amazing idea to pair Melissa Joan Hart and Joey ‘Whoa’ Lawrence up – we’re not sure why either. It’s pretty much ‘Who’s The Boss’ for a new generation with Joey playing the ‘manny’ to Melissa’s politician.
Its all about quirky, comedic ladies tonight on NBC.
Returning from the holiday hiatus is our favourite commitment-phobe, ‘Whitney’, at 8 PM. We really love this show and it’s over-the-top comedy. The chemistry between Whitney and Alex is amazing, its what keeps us tuning in. We can’t wait to see what insane antics the couple gets up to next.
At 8:30 PM we get to meet NBC’s newest modern lady in the premiere of ‘Are you there, Chelsea?’. ‘That 70’s Show’ alum, Laura Prepon, plays Chelsea, a sassy, free-spirited bartender. Her cast of wacky co-workers, friends and family round out the ensemble for this new half hour comedy. We’re not 100% sure on this show, but we’ll give it a chance.
‘The People’s Choice Awards’ start the awards season tonight on CBS at 9 PM. ‘The Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Couco hosts the activities. Aimed more towards the younger generations, this is more of a party than an awards show.
Also Premiering tonight
One Tree Hill – The CW 8 PM
Ghost Hunters – Syfy 9 PM
Face Off – Syfy 10 PM
Also Returning tonight:
Harry’s Law – NBC 9 PM
Law & Order: SVU – NBC 10 PM
It’s bound to be a magical night on Syfy tonight. You can return to Camelot at 10 PM with the premiere of ‘Merlin’. The Arthurian sorcerer is back with more epic battles and secret spells. Who doesn’t like cheap special effects and british accents?
Returning after the holiday hiatus are our favourite demon hunters, The Winchester Brothers. We can’t wait until 9 PM for ‘Supernatural’ to return to The CW. How much more can these guys handle?! We can’t wait to see what kind of retribution Dean rains down on those Leviathans!
Also premiering tonight:
Say Yes To The Dress Atlanta – TLC 9 PM
Portlandia – IFC 10 PM
Also returning tonight:
Nikita – The CW 8 PM
A Gifted Man – CBS 8 PM
CSI: NY – CBS 9 PM
Blue Bloods – CBS 10 PM
Christmas comes early for all you of you who have ‘Victoria’s Secret Model’ on your Christmas Wish List this year! The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs tonight on CBS at 10/9c.
Taped at the Lexington Avenue Armory in New York City on November 9th, the annual event features performances by Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and Jay-Z.
Check out this heavenly host of Angels showing off their “Jagger Moves”!
Enjoy the Sexiest Night on Television… (excluding Supernatural Fridays!)
News has just come down the wire that NBC has picked up its supernatural drama ‘Grimm’ for a full season. We SurlyGurls couldn’t be happier as it is easily our favourite of the 2011 new Fall Television offerings.
With this joyous news, we’ve decided it is a good time to update the Fall Cancellation/Renewal List!! Everything has premiered, except that train wreck ‘I Hate My Teenage Daughter’, and the networks have sealed the fate of almost all the new shows at this point in time.
So let’s recap!
Charlie’s Angels – Cancelled
Free Agents – Cancelled
H8R – Cancelled
How To Be A Gentleman – Cancelled
The Playboy Club – Cancelled
Sixty years ago CBS debuted their brand new show, a comedy about an awkward, clumsy, hilarious women and her smooth talking, entertainer husband. It was the day that ‘I Love Lucy’ hit the airwaves and has pretty much never left them.
As a kid Whitney would watch reruns of ‘I Love Lucy’ with her dad at lunchtime. Even though it was in black and white and was off the air long before she was even that proverbial twinkle in her parent’s eyes, she loved it. There was something about Lucille Ball’s quirky mannerisms that she related to.
The casualties of the Fall 2011 television season are coming in fast and furious now! So, we just wanted to give you an update.
CBS has just been tossed ‘How to Be a Gentleman’ into the mass grave of the season with NBC’s ‘Playboy Club’, ‘Free Agents’ and the CW’s ‘H8TER’.
Also on Death Watch are ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ ‘A Gifted Man’ and ‘Prime Suspect’. Hopefully, none of these are among your favourites because not only are they probably not long for this world… it means you have terrible taste in television.
