Summer T.V. Premieres – June 7, 2012

Remember the good old days when season finales meant you got to escape the grasp of your television for a mere 3 months of the year? You got to get outside and enjoy the company of actual people? There are so many premieres happening tonight it’s like September has come early…only with really shitty offerings.

Apparently NBC and FOX are competing to have the absolute worst take on the “Dating Game”. NBC will be creating some kind of terrible Frankenstein’s monster of reality game shows with ‘Love In The Wild’ at 8 PM. It’s a little bit ‘Survivor’, a little bit ‘Fear Factor’ and a little bit ‘The Bachelor’. At the same time FOX will premiere ‘Take Me Out’, a show in which 30 women will compete for one man by turning a light podium off and on. If that sounds like the worst part, it’s not, this show is hosted by the always irritating George Lopez.

Summer T.V. Premieres – June 3, 2012

For a Sunday night, there is a lot going on in the world of T.V. premieres! There are four premieres and a special event going on tonight, which means there is lots of variety, and even some that the SurlyGurls will be watching (or PVRing while we’re at the theatre seeing ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’)

First up, at 9 PM on A&E is the premiere of their comedic cop drama ‘The Glades’. We can’t be the only ones out there that think this is just a new version of ‘CSI: Miami’ with a better looking cast. Who keeps green lighting all these cop shows, seriously?!

Lifetime is also competing for your views at 9 PM with the premiere of the fourth season of ‘Drop Dead Diva’. The hilarious journey of Deb/Jane as she learns just how different life can be for a plus-size girl continues tonight. We’re not saying this is the height of intellectual television, but it is a cute little comedy, but it is one of Whitney’s guilty pleasures.

Midseason T.V. Premieres – Jan 9, 2012

It’s the beginning of a brand new week, and why not start it off with some “uplifting” reality t.v.? Discovery Channel is premiering their new series ‘First Week In’ tonight at 9 PM. What better way to start your week than to realize how lucky you are to not be in jail? ‘First Week In’ shows all of us upstanding citizens what a horror show your first week in jail can be. Of course we find it a little hard to sympathize with kidnappers and pimps, but that could just be us.

If watching a sexy detective and her crime novelist partner catch fictional criminals is more your speed – as it is ours – you can tune into the return of ‘Castle’ tonight at 10 PM on ABC. We love the chemistry between Castle and Beckett and can’t wait to see what capers the rest of this season has in store for them!

Also premiering tonight:

House of Anubis – Nickelodeon 7 PM
Caged – MTV 10 PM

Midseason T.V. Premieres – Jan 5, 2012

Oh Yeeeeahhh!!! It’s time for smushing and fist pumping again. God help us all.

‘Jersey Shore’ returns to MTV tonight at 10 PM for their 5th season. How these fake ‘n’ bake, sexed up Guidos have managed to infect our televisions for FIVE seasons is beyond us. We’re sure this season will be more of the same – G.T.L – Gym. Tanning. Laundry. Who wouldn’t want to watch that?

If you’re more interested in watching people with ACTUAL talent and skill, tune into Lifetime tonight for the premiere of ‘Project Runway: All Stars’ tonight at 9 PM. All your favourite designers are back and battling it out again. This is one of our guilty pleasure shows, because we love us some new and exciting fashion!

Returning from the holiday hiatus:

The Vampire Diaries – 8 PM
Grey’s Anatomy – ABC 9 PM
The Secret Circle – CW 9 PM
Private Practice – ABC 10 PM
